I've been to Essence Festival damn near every time they've had one and I love it. I get to see a lot of my friends (like Charlie Wilson and Erykah Badu) all in one place and I get to see the people who made me what I am today...the fans. This time I got to spend some personal time with some young people like Empire's Bryshere Y. Gray also known as Yazz and the young R&B starlet Sevyn Streeter just in passing. The real reason I keep coming back tho?...they keep paying me.
With God's grace, I try to maximize the time he's given me, but we all have the same 24 hours in a day.
Everyone knows that I'm a busy guy but even at Essence Fest I maximize my time and my earning power but making sure to have different streams of income. I might have lost a little bit at the casino but in one day I took part in four different activations from the first ever Essence Dating Show with Chef Roblé and Keke Palmer to the Walmart sponsored live Family Feud with Trey Songz and the lovely Kelly Rowland. Then, Rashan Ali and I had a question and answer session sponsored by Coca-Cola where I got to share my thoughts on imagination and gave the audience a look at my personal vision board (something I think everyone should have).
That was just my afternoon. Later, I checked in at the Super Dome again to showcase a special date sponsored by Coca-Cola. A lot of people ask me how I balance it all. With God's grace, I try to maximize the time he's given me, but we all have the same 24 hours in a day.
